About Cathryn
Cathyrn Harris-Marchesi is a distinguished mediator and attorney. Her career spanning over three decades, began in 1998 as a mediator in Northern California.
Ms. Harris-Marchesi earned her Juris Doctorate and became a member of the New York Bar. During her two decades of experience as a litigator, Ms. Harris-Marchesi recognized the financial, emotional, and social costs of litigation. Convinced that there must be a better way to solve legal conflicts, she returned her focus to mediation and alternative dispute resolution.
Ms. Harris-Marchesi's expertise extends across a wide spectrum of complex disputes, encompassing all aspects of employment law, land use issues, commercial conflicts, municipal law, divorce, civil rights, and federal Constitutional issues. Ms. Harris-Marchesi also served as a Hearing Officer for in excess of five years for a county government agency.
Ms. Harris-Marchesi is experienced in creating industry specific employee handbooks, policies, practices, and procedures for diverse businesses. She worked with various municipalities collaborating on drafting legislation and implementing enforcement practices, negotiating with various government agencies, and testifying at county legislative hearings. She has conducted numerous Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses at various Bar Associations and is frequently a guest speaker at universities and educational institutions.
Ms. Harris-Marchesi serves on several boards, including the Executive Board of the Women’s Intercultural Network. Through WIN, Ms. Harris-Marchesi serves as a delegate to the Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations, advocating for the improvement of the lives of women and children globally.
